Jerusalem Boxing Club sponsors UNRWA trauma counseling in the Gaza Strip
SAN FRANCISCO, California – Jerusalem Boxing Club (JBC), through its founder Abdulrahim Harara, has pledged to fund UNRWA’s mental health counseling programs for Palestine refugee children in the Gaza Strip. Harara announced its sponsorship in partnership with UNRWA USA as part of its October 1st Bay Area Gaza 5K walk/run in California.
The club hopes to inspire $10,000 in match donations by race day. In just two day’s time, JBC has raised $16,420 toward its $20,000 Gaza 5K fundraising goal. To learn more about the match challenge, or to consider a gift of your own, visit JBC's Gaza 5K fundraiser page.
"Ultimately, Jerusalem Boxing Club sees UNRWA USA as a partner in the space," Abdulrahim explained. "As we continue to grow as an organization, we want to align with organizations that are directly on the ground, that are all about the people -- and that's what JBC is about. It's about the community, it's about the impact."
UNRWA USA is grateful to partners like JBC and others who offer match grant challenges as a call to action for the community to support the wellbeing of Palestine refugees. Once the match and Gaza 5K goals are met, these funds will allow UNRWA to continue mental health services for refugees at a time when mental health remains fragile and resources are at stake.
