leave a legacy for palestine refugees

With UNRWA USA’s Planned Giving Program, you can empower Palestine refugees with hope and opportunity for generations to come.

It’s easy to set up and you don’t have to be wealthy to do it.

What is planned giving?

Planned giving is a charitable gift made in a lifetime or after as part of a donor's overall financial and/or estate.

By remembering UNRWA USA in your legacy (will, living trust, or charitable bequest) today, you can ensure that UNRWA will be there for future generations of Palestine refugees until no longer needed.

We invite you to join the many folks who’ve chosen to leave a legacy for Palestine refugees:

In most cases, all you have to do is name UNRWA USA in your will or trust as one of your beneficiaries. You can designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, property, or item.

Because your gift won’t be made until after your lifetime, you can change your mind at any time.

We all hope to be here for as long as it takes for the issues with Palestine refugees to be resolved. But hope can’t be a strategy when one thing is certain: as with COVID-19 and violent military assaults, our community and our people will face uncertain times again. While we can’t stop these things from happening, we can do our best to plan, prepare, and protect the things we cherish and the people we love.

tribute: abed and husniyeh kouttainay

Read this unedited family tribute to two dearly departed supporters, who have touched us with their generosity to Palestine refugees.

"Abed and Husniyeh Kouttainay lived a full life. They found home and family away from home; home was always and forever Palestine. For those of us who knew them, we loved their company, hospitality, generosity, inspiring stories and their lovely sense of humor.

Husniyeh loved her work, her beautiful house in Lynwood, her community and tirelessly baked her delicious ajweh cookies to fundraise for Palestinian causes. Abed found joy in his long journey, his garden and speaking his mind in the company of his old friends. Husniyeh was sweet, courageous, and dazzled with her laugh. Abed was adventurous, funny and sometimes cantankerous. Palestine and Palestinians were always in their hearts. The pain and injustice of the occupation and exile never forgotten.

While Abed never made it back home, he passed away in Amman after a battle with cancer. Husniyeh peacefully passed away at home in Palestine with her family where she wanted to be as her memory faded away. In their passing, they wanted their life savings to serve those they cared about the most, their big Palestinian family. We love and miss you Husniyeh and Abed."

including UNRWA USA in your future plans is a great investment in human development.

Here’s why retired U.S. Ambassador Phil Wilcox thinks so:

  • Over the decades, UNRWA schools, primary health clinics, and other support have helped create a dynamic, resilient, and accomplished Palestinian community.

  • UNRWA schools have produced many of the best-educated grads in the Arab Middle East.

  • Many who have emigrated have distinguished themselves in academia, science, medicine, and business.

  • Your gifts will help Palestinians win the future they steadfastly work for and richly deserve.
