UNRWA USA statement in response to ongoing UN investigation of allegations related to UNRWA personnel

UNRWA USA is aware of the recent media reports regarding the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services investigation based on allegations received against UNRWA personnel. UNRWA USA will continue to maintain an awareness of the circumstances and investigation.

UNRWA USA is a separate nonprofit corporation from UNRWA, the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. UNRWA USA is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. UNRWA USA is governed by its own Board of Directors which exercises discretion and control over donated funds in support of the Agency's work for Palestine refugees. Further, UNRWA USA staff are staff of UNRWA USA only. As a separate organization, neither UNRWA USA nor any of its staff are involved in the UN investigation. Further, as the investigation is ongoing, and no findings have been shared with UNRWA, UNRWA itself is not commenting on the investigation. UNRWA USA wholeheartedly supports a transparent investigation of these allegations. As always, nothing will deter UNRWA USA from continuing its mission of promoting a life of dignity and human development for Palestine refugees.
