UNRWA USA is excited to announce a newly created position: Associate Director of Major Gifts. As we continue to expand our fundraising efforts in support of Palestine refugees, we're seeking an energetic and confident individual to lead our major giving program and drive impactful fundraising initiatives.

What you’ll do:

Funds development

  • Manage a portfolio of around 300 major donors and prospects, developing tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies for each based on their philanthropic interests and giving capacity.

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with assigned major donors, aiming for both new gifts and renewals, ensuring sustained engagement with UNRWA USA’s mission and initiatives.

  • Strive to upgrade major gift donors to consider making transformational gifts 

  • Engage in face‐to‐face briefings, solicitations, and gift negotiations with the Director of Philanthropy and Executive Director.

  • Promote and enhance the planned giving program, encouraging donors to consider legacy gifts.

  • Stay informed about UNRWA funding needs, identifying and articulating compelling cases for support for donors within your purview.

  • Ensure proper acknowledgment and recognition of assigned donors, working closely with the Communications team to provide personalized materials.

  • Oversee stewardship activities, establish and implement reporting schedules, and coordinate recognition events as necessary. 

  • Collaborate closely with the Development team on overall fundraising strategy and campaign appeals to ensure major donor efforts are aligned.

  • Represent UNRWA USA as a fundraising ambassador at community events, donor meetings, and other fundraising activities nationwide.

  • Craft and edit major donor correspondence, including appeal letters, emails, funding proposals, and reports.

  • Meticulously document donor interactions and activities in Salesforce to ensure accurate record-keeping.

  • Be ready to help with other special projects and tasks as directed by the Director of Philanthropy.

Familiarity with Arab and Muslim-American philanthropy, Palestine or the United Nations are all a plus!

  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to travel frequently and represent UNRWA USA at various events and meetings.

  • Experience in donor upgrading and stewardship.

  • Passionate about the work UNRWA, the UN Agency, does in the Middle East and the work of UNRWA USA, our nonprofit, here in the United States.
